Aqwal al-Suhuf (Press Statements / Press Digest) A press digest bulletin issued by the Gulf Committee, a solidarity organisation based in Britain that supported the Popular Front for the Liberation of Oman and the Arabian Gulf (PFLOAG) during the Dhofar Revolution (1965–1976). The Gulf Committee published periodical digests of this kind between 1971 and 1977, compiling press coverage and political analysis on the Gulf region for use by solidarity activists, addressing gaps in press circulation to supporters. The stated purpose of this issue, given in its opening pages, is twofold: to inform "comrades" (الرفاق) of differing viewpoints on issues facing Oman and the Arab Gulf and to track the movements of political and military forces active there, and to compensate for the committee's inability to distribute newspapers to all areas by reproducing relevant press excerpts directly. The visible content reproduces news items dated around 12 January 1976 (citing the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Siyasa, issue 2715), covering topics including a cabinet reshuffle in the UAE, Iranian mediation between Iraq and Syria, Kuwait's role in disseminating Gulf press content, the political situation in South Yemen, Saudi-Yemeni relations, and the presence of external powers (including Iran and China) in Gulf affairs.
