• Individual photographs from the Pamir Commission album
  42 individual photographs from an album compiled by the Pamir Commission of 1895, a joint expedition of Russian and British officers working to delineate the border between India and Russia. The images cover areas along the edge of Afghanistan and what is now Pakistan and Tajikistan, including the Pamir Mountains, Barzil Pass, Lake Victoria, the sculpted Buddha figures on the rocks near Gilgit and glaciers by the Darkot Pass, along with members of the Commission and Afghan representatives.
• Jamal al-Din al-Afghani’s First Trip to India (1912)
  Excerpt from the Arabic diaries of Hibat al-Din al-Shahrastani, a young Shiʿi scholar of Najaf in Ottoman Iraq, written during a trip he took to India in 1912, and containing some valuable information he was told about the Afghan philosopher and politician al-Sayyid Jamal al-Din (1838-97) during his earlier travels in India. • The Pamir Commission 1895
  Photograph album compiled by the Pamir Commission of 1895, a joint British-Russian expedition to delineate an agreed boundary between British India and the Russian Empire. The album contains photographs of members of the Commission and Afghan representatives, as well as views around the border area between Afghanistan and what is now Pakistan and Tajikistan.
• The Visit of HM Zahir Shah, King of Afghanistan, to London in December 1971
  Two documents for the royal visit of HM Mohammad Zahir Shah (1914-2007) , the last King of Afghanistan, to London in December 1971. One provides three pages of information about Afghanistan and the King's family, and the other has four pages of details about arrangements for the visit of the king and his daughter, Princess Bilquis, to the Guildhall on 9 December. The king was deposed in a coup by his cousin 18 months years later.
