Gelawêj Magazine, Vol. 2: Second Year Issues, 1940–1941
This item is a compiled and republished volume of the Kurdish periodical Gelawêj, covering Vol. 2 and the magazine’s second year of publication, associated with 1940–1941. The document includes facsimile reproductions of original Gelawêj pages, beginning with Year 2, Issues 1–2, January–February 1941, and containing the magazine cover, masthead, literary prose, poetry, cultural writing, discussion of Kurdish language and literature, translated or adapted texts, reader notices and educational material. The original masthead describes Gelawêj as a monthly Kurdish literary and cultural magazine. This republished volume was prepared by Siddiq Salih, Rafiq Salih and Abdullah Zangana and published by Binkey Jîn in Erbil in 2015. The volume is significant for documenting Kurdish literary journalism, cultural production, language use, translation and intellectual life in Iraq during the early 1940s.
Letter from Amir Hassanpour to Omar Sheikhmous
