Kersenneh is a very small grain, used for feed, which matures before wheat and barley. The whole plant is pulled out of the ground - the same technique is used for lentils and taken to the threshing floor. The harvester[s] proceed on their haunches all day, pulling the stalks, shaking the soil from the roots, and building little piles of sheaves". -
